The engineering documents have been forwarded for ECM Administrator approval.

The following comment from the previous comment letters still needs a response.
1. Clarify whether the footings are to be constructed only on sandstone subgrade (and how the depth of the footings interacts with the depth of undisturbed sandstone). Please provide a formal response to these comments.
a. Section 5.1.1 of the Subsurface Soil Investigation states that extensive subgrade improvements are anticipated and a maximum ultimate bearing pressure of 5,000 psf is recommended, but for undisturbed sandstone, the allowable bearing capacity is 5,800 psi. The footing design report states that Ultimate Bearing Resistance is 14,500, resulting in a factored bearing resistance of 8,700 psf. Please clarify.
c. Address how the footings will tie in to undisturbed sandstone if it is higher or lower than the bottom of the footings.

Note: Bridge material design life certifications will be required prior to acceptance.

The proposed construction looks to be outside of the utility easement in the area. It appears like CS utilities is not the only utility in the area, however if the engineer of record or contractor believes there are additional CS utilities in the area, please notify us. If the intended work interfered with CS utilities' gas during construction, please call our gas field engineers at 719-668-7858.

CIG Colorado Interstate Gas
10/28/2021 12:01:04 PM
Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG) does not have any comments on the Sand Creek Channel Bridge. This infrastructure is approximately 2,600 east of the CIG pipelines.

CIG has two active 20" high pressure gas pressure pipelines. Magellan Pipelines runs parallel to CIG with a 6" high pressure gas pipeline. Both CIG and Magellan Pipelines will require an Encroachment Agreement(s) for this crossing. CIG has the following comments regarding the expansion of Briargate Parkway:

1. The depth of cover over the CIG pipeline shall not be reduced nor drainage altered without CIG’s written approval.
2. No parking, stockpiling of equipment or material is allowed on the CIG easement.
3. Construction of any permanent structure, building(s) or obstructions with CIG easement is not permitted, including
fences.
4. AC Electrical lines must be installed in conduit and properly insulated with a 36” vertical clearance under CIG pipeline
at a 90 degree angle only. Constant line elevation must be maintained across CIG’s entire right of way width.
5. Roads running parallel over the CIG pipeline are not allowed.
6. Road crossing are permitted at a 90 degree crossing only. Road crossings must be determined for safe crossing of
heavy equipment by potholing of pipeline for true depth of the pipelines. A list of ALL heavy equipment crossing this
location must be provided to CIG to complete load calculations before ANY heavy equipment can cross at
determined location. An encroachment agreement must be signed before heavy equipment can cross.
7. CIG’s pipeline cannot be land locked by fencing. CIG needs 24/7 access in the event of a pipeline emergency.
8. No power poles, light standards, etc. shall be installed in CIG’s easement.
9. Heavy equipment will not be allowed to operate directly over the CIG pipelines or within easement. Heavy equipment
shall be allowed to cross pipelines at locations approved by CIG. When inclement weather exists, provisions must be
made to compensate for soil displacement due to subsidence of tires.
10. Contractor is required to follow all Colorado 811 State laws.
11. A CIG representative is required to be onsite anytime work is being conducted within 25’ of the CIG pipeline.
