The El Paso County Conservation District has reviewed this and we have the following comments: 1) Erosion controls/Revegetation plans The application has GEC and Landscape plans that are mostly sufficient, but we would like to see a few additions to one or both, however the applicant most sees fit. A) In both plans, they have a "native seed" mix being used around the site for their revegetation. We would like to see the native seed mix name and species composition in their plans as well to ensure they are a seed mix that is native and naturalized plant species to El Paso County, particularly due to the proximity to Fountain Creek, which had a lot of current issues with non-native invasive plants within its watershed. B) Disturbed areas need to be mulched after seeding with weed-free hay or straw mulch at approximately 5,000 lbs per acre due to the proximity to Fountain Creek in order to improve germination rates of the grass seed and prevent soil erosion until grasses are established. C) If the applicant is in need of a natural grass source, consider using the El Paso County Conservation District’s Native Shotgun Mix (available at EPCCD.org) for reseeding, which is well suited to soils present on this site and is comprised of 100% native and naturalized grass species. If these measures are added to the project's plan, then the El Paso County Conservation District will be content with the applicant's commitment to soil conservation, watershed protection, and protection of the surrounding community.
